Community Chest Covid 19 Relief project

The daily lives of people all around the world has changed dramatically since the announcement of the deadly COVID 19 Virus.

This has had a devastating impact on our country and the worst affected by the lockdown is the destitute and vulnerable in our communities

Community Chest plays a vital role in supporting our community in the areas of feeding and supplying of essential services.

We have aligned with credible partners who are strategically situated in areas around Nelson Mandela Bay and are able to reach the vulnerable community members in the most desolate areas.

In order to mitigate the possibility of families facing starvation during this trying time, we supply:

  • Bulk food items to all our soup kitchens
  • Food packs
  • Food vouchers
  • Provide essential packs

There is a genuine cry for help by families negatively impacted by COVID 19.

Now is the time for us to rally together to bring about change in our metro where we enhance the lives of our community members and restore hope and dignity among our fellow citizens of Nelson Mandela Bay.

WINTER WOOLLY DRIVE

The Winter Woolly Drive reaches out to the vulnerable during the cold winter months annually and have been doing so for more than twenty years.

Many of our community members are unable to put food on the table as businesses are forced to shut their doors due to COVID 19.

Children are facing the worst as vulnerable families face possible starvation with the onset of winter compounding the problem with very little to no clothing and blankets for warmth. We have aligned with credible partners who are strategically situated in areas around the Nelson Mandela Bay and are able to reach the vulnerable community members in the most desolate areas.

In order to mitigate the possibility of families facing the harsh winter conditions, we will be running our Winter Woolly Drive, collecting clothing and blankets to assist those in desperate need. The donated items of clothing and blankets will be washed, dried and sanitized by the donor, placed in a plastic bag before dropping it off at designated Spar outlets.

The donated items will be placed in a trolley in a safe designated area in the store. All necessary COVID 19 protocols will be adhered to in accordance with the Disaster management Act, 2002( Act 57 of 2002)
